Schalke remain hopeful that Liverpool and Manchester United transfer target Leon Goretzka will stay at the club

Schalke remain determined to keep Leon Goretzka, despite continued interest in the midfielder from the likes of Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

The Germany international has been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga club during the January transfer window.

He is reported to have met with Schalke president Clemens Tonnies this week, with the German outfit keen to keep hold of the 22-year-old.
