Ryan Mason is making 'excellent progress' in skull fracture recovery but Hull City expect him to be monitored in hospital for the 'next few days'

Hull City say Ryan Mason is making 'excellent progress' from his fractured skull as the midfielder's condition continues to improve in the days after his emergency surgery in London.

Mason will stay at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London for 'the next few days', as doctors monitor his condition following the sickening clash of heads suffered with Chelsea captain Gary Cahill in Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

A Hull City statement read: 'The club can confirm that Ryan Mason continues to make excellent progress after sustaining a skull fracture in Sunday’s game against Chelsea.

'He will continue to be closely monitored by staff at St Mary’s Hospital over the next few days, whilst also remaining in contact with our medical team to assess his progress.
