Middlesbrough could appoint former manager Steve McClaren as director of football if Ryan Giggs replaces Steve Agnew this summer.

Former Manchester United assistant Giggs, who left his role at Old Trafford following the arrival of Jose Mourinho, is the the bookmakers' favourite for the job.

And, as reported by Sportsmail's Charles Sale, McClaren is in line for a return to the Riverside Stadium if the Welshman becomes Boro's new boss.
