Ronald Koeman found himself under siege. He posted a picture on Twitter of a Christmas tree on Thursday, complete with red ribbons, but the response was not what he expected.
If he was unclear beforehand what the sight of that colour meant to Evertonians, he no longer needed any explanations. Koeman promptly returned to Twitter to show a differently decorated tree but added there are 'more serious problems in the world'.
He is right, of course. And there are also more serious problems at Everton to address than the way Koeman chooses to decorate his home at Christmas.
