Brentford's director of football Phil Giles has insisted the club's decision to sign Romeo Beckham for their B team was made due to his ability and character, rather than as a PR stunt.
Romeo, the son of Manchester United and England legend David, made a loan switch to Brentford's B team from Inter Miami in January.
The 20-year-old midfielder's temporary move attracted significant attention due to his famous father.
Giles was asked on the High Performance Podcast about the decision to add Romeo to the squad and ensuring the move was not based around the potential value the Beckham name would bring.
