Newcastle attacker Rolando Aarons’ move to Huddersfield broke down because the necessary paperwork was filed just two minutes after the transfer deadline.
Aarons was all set for a move to the Championship club but the Premier League and EFL refused to sanction the switch because the relevant forms were sent at 5.02pm, causing obvious disappointment to all parties.
It means the forward is now facing months of sitting on the sidelines at St James’ Park, obviously an unideal scenario.
There appears little hope of having the deal resurrected.
