Robinho believes Chelsea shirt blunder stopped him moving to Stamford Bridge in 2008 before he joined Manchester City instead

Robinho believes a blunder which saw Chelsea begin selling shirts bearing his name played a key role in his potential move to Stamford Bridge falling through in 2008.

The Brazilian forward ultimately joined Manchester City instead, where he went on to score 14 goals in 41 Premier League appearances, but things could have been very different had his planned move to Stamford Bridge not fallen through.

So confident were Chelsea of completing the move, which was due to be worth £29million, it was possible to buy replica shirts featuring his name from the Blues' online store.
