Rio Ferdinand has revealed his admiration for boyhood hero John Barnes after seeing the iconic image of the Liverpool legend back heeling a banana skin.
The former Manchester United and Leeds defender reflected upon his career in a fascinating new BT Sport new online series called 'What I Wore', which launched on Friday.
Ferdinand, featuring in the first episode, discussed the shirts he wore as a child, the ones he put on as a player and the jerseys that his most distinguished opponents wore.
Dressed in the United home shirt from the 2007-08 Champions League final, Ferdinand picked out Liverpool's home shirt from the 1987-88 campaign and opened up on the importance of Barnes to him when he was young.
