Rangers manager Mark Warburton insists Scotland can rely on defender Lee Wallace for qualifier with England

Rangers manager Mark Warburton insists that Scotland can bank on Lee Wallace as they seek to overcome an injury crisis at left-back for the upcoming World Cup qualifier with England at Wembley.

National coach Gordon Strachan has lost Hull City’s Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney of Celtic ahead of the win-or-bust Group F fixture and must now decide whether to pitch the Ibrox captain into action for his first cap since coming on as a second-half substitute in a goalless friendly with the United States at Hampden in November 2013.

The 29-year-old has appeared eight times for Scotland, making his last start more than six years ago in a 2-1 home win over Liechtenstein in the failed Euro 2012 campaign, and faces potential competition for a Wembley slot from the likes of Swansea City’s Stephen Kingsley and Graeme Shinnie of Aberdeen.
