Rachel Yankey has encouraged top executives at professional men’s clubs to make ‘bold’ decisions and start appointing female coaches.
The 37-year-old is taking her UEFA B Licence to make the transition from a 129-cap England forward to working behind-the-scenes.
While male coaches and managers are prevalent in the women’s game — the national team was managed by Mark Sampson until he was sacked last month— women are virtually non-existent in the male game. Yankey, however, does not believe gender should prevent women working at top clubs in men’s football.
‘I hope we will see that in the future,’ Yankey told Sportsmail.
