The Premier League has reported just two Covid-19 cases in the latest round of weekly tests as infections continue to drop in the top flight.

The number represents the lowest total of new cases during a round of testing in the league since October, when two positive cases came back from 1,609 tests conducted.

Since the New Year, Premier League clubs have been required to test players and staff twice-a-week.

And the increased testing, along with a raft of stricter rules to limit the spread of the virus, appear to have steadily reduced the number of cases, from a high of 40 in the week during the festive period.
