Premier League, EFL and PFA hold talks over providing financial aid for soon-to-be out of contract players amid fears that some footballers could face months without pay due to coronavirus pandemic

English football's powerbrokers are in talks over establishing a financial relief fund to protect players left unemployed because of the coronavirus.

The Professional Footballer Association, the Premier League and EFL are in discussions over providing financial aid for players who face being out of work in the coming weeks.

Players, particularly those towards playing in the bottom two divisions, reaching the end of their contracts are most at risk. With no guarantees over when football will be able to return, there are major concerns that some footballers could face months without pay.
