Premier League doctors will warn club executives their players risk serious muscular injuries if they try to complete the season by June 30.
Top-flight clubs are determined to finish the season by then to avoid a host of contractual and legal problems. But the prospect of clubs having to shoehorn in nine or 10 league games has caused major concerns in medical departments.
As it stands, the earliest football can recommence is May 1, but there is significant doubt that is a realistic option. There is a widely-held belief among clubs that football will not restart until closer to June.
