Premier League clubs 'to carry out 1,000 coronavirus tests this week in bid to accelerate Project Restart'

The Premier League will carry out 1,000 coronavirus tests this week as they take steps towards resuming the season.

Stars will be made to adhere to strict training ground rules, taking tests at least twice a week as clubs look to ensure the safety of their players.

According to The Mirror, the £4million testing exercise has been approved by the British Government and will be carried out with equipment from Hong Kong firm Prenetics.

Newcastle were among the teams to assess their squad this weekend, with group training scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
