France is the latest country to abandon attempts to resume its football season as fears grow among England’s top-flight clubs that the Premier League is being forced back too soon.
The French called off their top two divisions on Tuesday after Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said there could be no football until at least September.
Dutch football took a similar decision last week at the behest of its government and the Belgian season has been declared over.
France’s decision has repercussions for the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon still involved.
