Premier League and EFL fail to agree on financial distribution and parachute payments with the Government's review of football set to report and owners warning more clubs 'will go to the wall'

The Premier League and EFL are no closer to resolving key differences on how to share the wealth of the game with just a week before a major review of football governance is set to be published.

The government's fan-led review of the national game is expected to be completed next week.

When an interim report was released in July, the review's chair, Tracey Crouch MP, said she wanted the football authorities to resolve the matter of financial distribution themselves.

But Sportsmail understands that has not been possible with the deadline fast approaching and the EFL arguing for a large increase in funds and the abolition of parachute payments.
