Pep Guardiola was left cursing Eurovision as Manchester City are afforded just two days’ rest ahead of next week’s titanic reunion with Real Madrid.
Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena is staging the European song contest on Saturday and Merseyside Police are unable to staff both that and City’s crunch Premier League trip to Everton on the same day.
The Goodison Park clash was always scheduled for the Sunday but could not be moved forward, even once Guardiola’s team progressed to the Champions League semi-finals.
‘We play Sunday, thank you so much,’ Guardiola said sarcastically.
