Ozil didn't want to commit to Erdogan's policies, says Gladbach's Traore

The Arsenal man came under fire for posing for a photo with a controversial figure, but the Bundesliga veteran feels there was no political agenda

Borussia Monchengladbach's Ibrahima Traore does not believe that Arsenal's Mesut Ozil's meeting with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan was politically motivated on the player's part, but recognises that the scenario has damaged the German national team.

Ozil, who was joined by Everton's Cenk Tosun and Man City's Ilkay Gundogan, has Turkish roots, and met up with the controversial figure during an London embassy in May, posting a photo of the pair on his Instagram page.
