Ollie Watkins’ anger-fuelled celebration of his winning goal at former club Brentford was aimed at a supporter who had spent the game abusing his family.
Watkins, who left Brentford for Villa in 2020, pushed his hand through the net and singled out the fan with a finger-jabbing gesture following his 85th minute header.
The striker finished the game subjected to an X-rated chant and with his every touch being jeered while Villa chiefs were furious about the treatment Watkins was subjected to.
Watkins, who was involved in an animated conversation with Brentford manager Thomas Frank at full-time explaining his celebration, said: ‘There was one individual who was abusing me all game so it only felt right that I celebrated in front of him.
