N'Golo Kante shines on Chelsea debut against West Ham - could he be the successor to Claude Makelele?

His first three minutes as a Chelsea player may have left Antonio Conte on tenterhooks, but N'Golo Kante's debut provided all the signs that he can rejuvenate Chelsea's midfield this season.

Kante was shown a yellow card inside 180 seconds by Anthony Taylor for scything West Ham striker Andy Carroll, a decision the France international could have had few complaints about.

But it was the only blemish on an otherwise assured display from the 25-year-old.
