Newcastle launch ambitious move for out-of-favour PSG midfielder Idrissa Gueye but ex-Everton star is unsure over switch as Steve Bruce looks to bolster his squad on deadline day

Newcastle made an ambitious bid to sign Idrissa Gana Gueye on loan from Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night.

The former Everton midfielder will be allowed to leave but is unsure on the move.

Gueye joined the Paris giants from Everton in the summer of 2019 for £30million.

Under then-manager Thomas Tuchel, Gueye's PSG career got off to a phenomenal start, with the club winning all of his first eight games without conceding a single goal.

But things have stagnated for the 31-year-old this season.
