Newcastle boss Steve Bruce admits he 'fears the worst' for Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin as he bemoans injury woes and missed chances against Wolves that have deepened fears of relegation for his struggling side

Frustrated Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has admitted he 'fears the worst' after key duo Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin both departed injured during the 1-1 Premier League draw at home to Wolves.

Paraguay international Almiron did not return for the second half after picking up a muscular problem, and playmaker Saint-Maximin was also forced off during the second half.

Bruce would not be drawn on the severity of the pair's issues, telling Sky Sports: 'It's too early [to say] but for someone like Micky [Almiron] to come off and be in the state he's in, we fear the worst.
