Newcastle are still in the fight to sign Lille defender Sven Botman.
The Holland international's representatives have been in advanced talks with Italian champions AC Milan but Newcastle hope he prefers the chance to play in the Premier League.
Newcastle saw offers around £32m rejected by Lille in January with Botman also preferring to assess his options at the end of the season.
Tottenham and Manchester United have also discussed the 22-year old but he is further down their respective lists of priority.
Reports have suggested a deal is almost in place with Milan but Newcastle have been given encouragement there is still a chance Botman could be lured away.
