Newcastle are in talks with Saudi club Al Ahli over the sale of winger Allan Saint-Maximin.
The 26-year-old did not travel with Eddie Howe’s squad for Tuesday night’s friendly at Rangers and his future is set to be determined in the coming days.
Sources say the deal, said to be worth up to £30million, is moving in the right direction.
Saint-Maximin’s likely exit will pave the way for the arrival of Harvey Barnes, with agreement on a £35million package drawing closer for the Leicester wide man.
Howe said at the weekend that he would ‘love’ to keep Saint-Maximin at St James’ Park.
