Mike Ashley-owned Newcastle United DO NOT plan to reverse furloughing of non-playing staff despite Liverpool's u-turn and amid £340m takeover talks

Newcastle United and their controversial owner Mike Ashley have 'no plans' to reverse their decision to furlough non-playing staff despite a huge backlash from fans amid the coronavirus crisis.

The Magpies became the first Premier League club to put their staff on the government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, whereby 80 per cent of their wage can be claimed up to a maximum of £2,500 per month.

A number of other Premier League clubs have done the same, including Liverpool until they made a huge u-turn following outrage from their supporters.
