A run of good results and a trip to Wembley in the FA Cup would lift the gloom surrounding relegation-threatened Middlesbrough, midfielder Adam Clayton said after he signed a new four-year contract on Wednesday.
Boro's defeat at relegation rivals Crystal Palace last weekend stretched their winless run in the league to nine games and means, with 12 games remaining, they sit out of the bottom three only on goal difference.
But after extending his stay on Teesside, Clayton claims there is no cause for pessimism.
