Mason Mount 'got eaten up' during Southampton defeat, fumes Paul Merson in damning analysis of Chelsea... and the ex-Arsenal star can't see an end to the Blues' rut with the pressure piling up on Graham Potter

Mason Mount 'got eaten up' during Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday afternoon, according to damning analysis from Paul Merson.

James Ward-Prowse scored the only goal of the game from a Saints' free-kick to compound problems for Graham Potter's Blues.

Chelsea have won just once in all competitions in 2023 so far, and they're now 10 points adrift of fourth place in the race for Champions League spots.

Merson told Sky Sports he did not see the tide turning for the Blues based on their performance against bottom club Southampton, because the players were focused on themselves rather than the success of the club.
