Manchester United's midfield lacked bite and balance as Wolves stormed through them time-after-time... Erik ten Hag MUST go into the market to get Casemiro some help with Amadou Onana and Sofyan Amrabat options

The good news was that Manchester United won and that was at least an improvement on last season's Premier League opener.

But it didn't take much scratching beneath the surface of Monday night's fortunate 1-0 win over Wolves to unearth some alarming problems.

Erik ten Hag will be seriously concerned about the manner in which United's midfield was ripped apart time-after-time, with Matheus Nunes and Matheus Cunha in particular granted the freedom of Old Trafford.

Wolves were allowed 23 shots on the United goal - which was the most in a Premier League game at Old Trafford since Chelsea had 25 in November 2005.
