Manchester City old boy Gareth Barry praises Sergio Aguero after record-breaking goal against Napoli: 'When he finishes, his stats are going to be right up there with the best of them'

Fellow record-breaker Gareth Barry believes Manchester City's all-time record goalscorer Sergio Aguero will go down as a great of the game.

Argentina striker Aguero moved past Eric Brook's mark of 177 goals for the club - which had stood for 78 years - when he netted against Napoli in the Champions League.

Barry played with Aguero at City between 2011 and 2014 and won the Premier League in 2012 when Aguero scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner against QPR to clinch the title on the final day.

And West Brom midfielder Barry, who became the Premier League's record appearance-maker after playing in his 633rd game in September's defeat at Arsenal, reckons his former team-mate will be considered one of football's great forwards when he hangs up his boots.
