Brighton have rejected Manchester City's opening offer of £30million for full-back Marc Cucurella.
The two clubs entered into negotiations after Arsenal secured the services of Oleksandr Zinchenko for around £32m.
Cucurella is currently valued at £50m by the Seagulls, but Manchester City are looking to sign the highly-rated defender for less.
Pep Guardiola's side submitted an opening bid of £30m for the 23-year-old defender and remain hopeful of sealing a deal.
However, Brighton rejected their initial offer and believe Cucurella is worth at least £50m after a fine first season in the Premier League.
