Vincent Kompany hoped Manchester City's final performance of the season was a sign of things to come next time around as they thrashed Watford 5-0 to secure third place.
City made sure of Champions League football with some aplomb as Sergio Aguero scored twice while Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus also struck after Kompany's early header.
'I think we can be really happy with our performance,' Kompany said on Sky Sports 2. 'Sometimes on a day like this you just put on your boots and everything happens, and that happened today.
'We showed in many moments how much quality is in this team, what the standards should be going forward and defending.
