Kevin De Bruyne opener the scoring for the hosts after capitalising on a mistake from the Girona keeper early on, while Erling Haaland doubled the lead ten minutes later with a poachers finish.
Pep Guardiola's side will return to Premier League action with an away trip to Leeds on December 28.
