Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could depart the club should they not spend more, according to a former Reds executive.
Christian Purslow, who was managing director at Anfield from 2009 to 2010, feels Liverpool are in danger of falling behind the Premier League's biggest spenders.
Despite shelling out a record fee to land former Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk at the start of the transfer window, the perception was arguably bolstered over the weekend when Liverpool confirmed the sale of star midfielder Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £146 million.
Liverpool now have a massive sum to reinvest in the squad, part of which may have already been earmarked for the fee paid for Van Dijk, and Purslow feels the club must spend wisely and more often to prevent Klopp from seeking out a new challenge.
