Liverpool close to finalising £2m loan for Schalke centre back Ozan Kabak with option to buy at end of the season... and 20-year-old is set to undergo medical in Germany before jetting to Anfield

Liverpool are very close to sealing a deadline day loan deal for Schalke defender Ozan Kabak which will include an option to buy in the summer.

Kabak saw a move to Newcastle collapse this weekend but Liverpool are now ready to tie up a loan for £2million with a view to making the deal permanent for around £16m in the summer.

He is set to undergo a medical in Germany and if all goes well, will fly to Merseyside on Tuesday.

Kabak has a release clause of £35m but due to the financial pressures and threat of relegation for Schalke, Liverpool are optimistic about negotiating for considerably less.
