Jurgen Klopp refused to blame Alberto Moreno after the Liverpool full-back wasted a glorious chance to hand his team a 2-0 win at West Bromwich Albion by shooting from distance rather than feed a team-mate with Ben Foster stranded upfield.
Moreno had three players in support with only Chris Brunt in defence but the Spaniard took aim from 40 yards and watched in angst as the ball trickled harmlessly wide.
West Brom were able to mount a late push for an equaliser for the closing minutes but Klopp absolved Moreno’s ‘normal’ actions, suggesting his player’s options were limited because a pass to a team-mate in front would have been offside.
