Liverpool have become the latest Premier League club to be targeted by Chinese investors with a state-backed consortium.
China Everbright are looking to do business with Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool’s American owners — with the club now valued at around £800million.
Amanda Staveley, who helped to broker Sheik Mansour’s purchase of Manchester City in 2010, is said to be involved in negotiations, according to a report in the Sunday Times.
FSG bought Liverpool for £300m in 2010, and while they are understood not to actively wish to sell, they have made no secret that they would welcome an investor to maximise their potential to generate more revenue.
