Levi Colwill delivered an emotional farewell message to Brighton after opting to stay at Chelsea rather than sign for the Seagulls.

Roberto De Zerbi had hoped to bring the England under-21 international back to the south coast after impressing on loan last season.

However, the 20-year-old has since agreed a fresh six-year deal in principle with the Blues worth more than £100,000-a-week.

Posting to his social media channels, the defender thanked Brighton for giving him the opportunity to play Premier League football 'when no one else did' - a swipe at former boss Thomas Tuchel for sending him out on loan.
