Leeds United were locked in talks with Hoffenheim on Monday night as they sought agreement over a fee for striker Georginio Rutter.
The 20-year-old France Under 21 international is keen to make the move and is hopeful of arriving in Leeds for a medical over the next 24 hours.
Hoffenheim are pushing for around £35m including add-ons which would surpass the £27m club-record fee Leeds paid for Rodrigo from Valencia.
Rutter has scored twice in 17 games in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit this season.
Elsewhere, Leeds midfielder Alfie McCalmont, 22, meanwhile, is joining Carlisle United on loan.
