Chelsea fans took to Twitter to share their glee as news broke that Frank Lampard looks set to return at the west London club and take charge for the remainder of the season.
Assistant coach Bruno Saltor was appointed interim manager in the wake of Graham Potter's sacking on Monday, but shortly after the Blues legend was spotted watching Chelsea's lacklustre 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Tuesday evening, Sportsmail reported that Lampard would be given a second chance at Stamford Bridge.
The former Everton manager oversaw a strong third place finish during the 2019/20 season, during which time he nurtured young talent – such as Mason Mount and Reece James – who benefitted from the club's two-window transfer ban.
