Jose Mourinho had a 45-minute rant at his Manchester United stars in the build-up to their Champions League clash with Valencia as he battled to win their support.
The meeting at the Lowry Hotel on Monday evening was meant to last 20 minutes, but it went on more than twice as long as Mourinho confronted the players over their abysmal performance at West Ham.
Hotel staff could hear Mourinho’s raised voice throughout the meeting with very little response from the United squad in the meeting room.
Only a few hours earlier, Mourinho had admitted at the pre-match press conference that some of his players care more than others about the crisis engulfing Old Trafford as his future at United hangs in the balance.
