EE have lunched the latest iteration of their Hope United campaign, GayVAR, in order to tackle the ongoing prevalence of homophobic hate in football.
As the campaign name suggests, it calls for fans to call out and challenge abuse when they see it online, after 71 per cent of people surveyed agreed that homophobia remains a problem in the sport.
Fronted by Joe Cole and comedian Tom Allen, Hope United will monitor social media platforms across three Premier League weekends, producing video content in response to specific moments that cause a spike in homophobic abuse online.
