Just a minute or so before Jesse Lingard scorched Manchester United's second at Middlesbrough, a comment flashed up on the live commentary on another website.
It was a text message from a supporter, presumably sent from home and tapped out with great fury, which read 'Still can't see the point in Lingard'.
This fan is by no means alone. The winger divides opinion and it looks unlikely that he will ever truly win the majority round at Old Trafford.
They see him as a runner but lacking end product.
