Jamaal Lascelles and Mo Diame will take Newcastle squad out for lunch to say sorry for training-ground spat

Newcastle pair Jamaal Lascelles and Mo Diame have offered to take the rest of the squad for lunch as a way of apologising for their training-ground scrap - which left Jonjo Shelvey with a broken hand.

Skipper Lascelles and midfielder Diame clashed on the training field last week and, when punches were thrown, peacemaker Shelvey was caught in the crossfire. He will now wear a protective cast when Newcastle travel to Southampton on Sunday.

But manager Rafa Benitez is happy that the offer of a free lunch has drawn a line under the incident.
