Jack Wilshere has been dealt a crushing injury blow after suffering a suspected hairline leg fracture.
The England midfielder was hopeful he’d escaped serious injury after an X-ray on Sunday showed no break on the lower part of his fibula after taking a kick to his ankle during an accidental collision with Harry Kane during Bournemouth’s loss at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
However, there was always concern that any prognosis made on Sunday was far too premature given he only sustained the injury 24 hours earlier.
And those fears have been realised as Sportsmail understands that a CT scan, which are much more conclusive than X-rays, has shown up a small crack in his left leg.
