It's a mild August afternoon in Stoke... but Premier League footballer Giannelli Imbula wears gloves despite 17C temperatures

Legend has it that the acid-test for anybody new to Premier League football is presented by their trip to Stoke, with its reputation for plunging temperatures and a home team that relishes upsetting the established order.

But while new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola showed little sign of difficulty in adapting to the Bet365 Stadium's micro-climate, the same wasn't true for Giannelli Imbula, who was plainly used to more toasty conditions growing up in Paris.

Stoke's £18.3million midfielder ignored the August date on his calendar to sport gloves as he lined up in his side's engine room against Guardiola's City.
