Oxford United captain John Mousinho admitted it was 'inevitable' that lower league clubs will furlough players and staff amid the coronavirus crisis and believes the solution to wage cuts lies in the PFA negotiating club-by-club agreements.
The PFA have been in extensive negotiations with clubs over how best to mitigate the financial impact of the current shutdown, with the latest development seeing Premier League stars launch the #PlayersTogether campaign to raise funds for the NHS.
However Mousinho, a member of the PFA's management committee, warned that the financial impact would prove more damaging for players in the lower leagues.
