Rio Ferdinand has fired back at criticism over Manchester United's loan signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer on transfer deadline day.
The Austrian international was signed late on transfer deadline day with United moving quickly after Christian Eriksen was ruled out for the next three months.
The 28-year-old is out of favour at the Bundesliga giants and has not featured since prior to the 2022 World Cup break, when they sealed a 2-0 Champions League win against Inter Milan.
Ex-Arsenal player and current pundit Paul Merson labelled the signing of Sabitzer as a 'panic buy' and also described the midfielder as a 'fourth rate player'.
