'If clubs can afford to pay their players and staff, they should': PFA refuses to back down in escalating row over Premier League salaries during coronavirus crisis but insists they are 'aware' of growing public unrest

The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) has made its current position clear when it comes to the salaries of staff at Premier League clubs, a matter which has been attracting a lot of attention as the coronavirus crisis escalates.

A statement released on Thursday said: ' We are aware of the public sentiment that the players should pay non-playing staff's salaries.

'However, our current position is that - as businesses - if clubs can afford to pay their players and staff, they should.'
