Giovanni Van Bronckhorst appears set to end his brief association with Manchester City and is ready to take the manager's job at Guangzhou R&F in China.
Sportsmail revealed in September that chiefs at New York City, a sister club of the Premier League champions, had earmarked Van Bronckhorst as a potential future boss.
The Dutchman had worked within the City Football Group all season but opted against succeeding Domenec Torrent at the MLS side.
