Fulham manager Marco Silva believes the league’s clampdown on timewasting is protecting the ‘big clubs’ as he branded Calvin Bassey’s sending off a ‘joke’.
Defender Bassey received a yellow card by referee Paul Tierney after being adjudged for taking too long at a goal-kick. He was dismissed for a second caution, blocking Eddie Nketiah at a counter-attack.
It follows a drive by the league to enforce new rules on time management this season.
Silva said: ‘The first yellow card for Calvin is a joke, and of course we understand the new circumstances (rules).
